Connie Deck Planking Ross Leonard I have received approval from a majority of the Executive Committee for my plan on the distribution of the COnnie Deck Planking. As you may remember this Deck Planking was donated to the USS Constellation CVA/CV-64 Association by the U.S. Navy Historic Center in Washington D.C. You may also remember that I received 626 pounds of this Deck Planking. My overall objective is to ensure that ALL members of the USS Constellation CVA/CV-64 Association has the opportunity to receive a part of history. My Plan: 1. The Deck Planking will be cut into rectangular pieces that will be approximately 3 3/4 inches long by 2 1/2 inches high by 1 inch thick. This will ensure that there will be adequate pieces available for all Association Members plus remaining pieces for future members. 2. We have had brass plates made and they contain the following: Deck Planking USS Constellation CVA/CV-64 "America's Flagship" 10/27/1961 8/7/2003

The metal plates have an adhesive backing to be able to mount onto the Deck Planking if desired.

3. All pieces of Deck Planking will come with a personalized certificate of authenticity that hopefully you will feel is suitable for framing, althought the frame is not included. Each member will be allowed two personalized lines on the certificate. As an example mine reads:

ROSS F. LEONARD EM2 USN
1961 PLANK OWNER 1964

You may let me know what you want your two lines to read when you order the Deck Planking

You will also receive a copy of the certificate from the United States Navy Historic Center that states that the Deck Planking is from the USS Constellation CVA/CV-64.

4. When you take ownership of the Deck Planking you are certifying that you will NEVER SELL the Deck Planking.

5. Of course all this must come with a price if we are to make this a win - win situation for both the Association and the Association Members. The majority of the Executive Committee has agreed that to rceive a piece of th Connie Deck Planking we ask that each member donate a minimum of $25.00 to the Association. These donations will go into our Reuion and Activities Fund for future Associaton use. I believe we can all agree that this is an exceptional opportunity to make our Association financially secure for years to come. This set up was very popular at the reunion.

6. For those members who do not wish to receive the brass plate and the two cetificates, you may order just the piece of Deck Planking. The cover charge for this will be $10.00 to cover the processing and mailing expense.

7. Utilizing the above plan will ensure all members will have the opportunity to particiapte in this Deck Planking Program.
