As most of you know the USS Constellation CVA/CV64 Association secured a small space, for “Carrier Row”, onboard the USS Lexington Museum on the Bay, Corpus Christi, TX, a couple years ago. The Lexington Group charges us zero rent, however, we donated $5,000 to air condition our space to provide a more moisture free environment to protect our loaned items already on display. Today our Association just commissioned a model ship builder to create a 46” replica, of a circa 1966-1969 Kitty Hawk Class Aircraft Carrier, paint will be lightly weathered for realism, twenty period aircraft and cranes/tow equipment will be included. It rests on a mahogany base, with brass stand lifts and will be stored in a 52” mahogany Plexiglas display case. It will be a first class endeavor to enshrine, honor and display a beautiful memory of a large part of our Navy heritage and your “Connie” family forever. Construction begins this month and it will be available to ship by November 2018.
If you would like to participate, in purchasing this model ship and offset costs, please send check made out to USS Constellation CVA/CV64 Association, Gayland Rushing, President, 1512 Auburn Drive, Longview, TX 75601.
Fair winds and following seas,
Long live the Connie spirit
P.S. Our Naval Warship models are made-to-order, meaning we do not stock any pre-made models. Only when a customer tells us the size and scale desired do we build the model. Each model comes fully assembled with a solid hull, hand carved from kiln dried mahogany. Other parts are made from a variety of woods, putty, resin and metals. sig SD Model Makers
